On the Saturday before the annual Agricasta event, in collaboration with the Una Consortium
Mountain of Hospitality in the Park, an Experiential Workshop will be proposed to experience half a
day like our grandparents, together with those who still take care of the chestnut groves to produce chestnut flour
as it used to be.
We will visit Nicola’s chestnut grove, discovering the hardships but also the satisfactions
of this agricultural activity, which has remained substantially intact over time.
From the chestnut grove we will move on to the
techniques used for drying chestnuts, up to the mill where they were transformed into
flour.
You will visit the Belpiano Mill, classified as a Monumental Mill, wisely
restored and still functional.
The experience will end in the kitchen, with a workshop to learn
a typical recipe based on chestnut flour and, of course, to taste it.
The experience will be open to
Italian-descendants and not.
“Castagneto Experience” is one of the Roots Workshops proposed in the Municipality of Borzonasca together with Italea Liguria.Agricasta, organized in collaboration with the Borzonasca Promotion and Development Committee, is held every year on the 1st Sunday of October and reaches its 20th edition this year.
The event celebrates the culture of the chestnut, with installations, exhibitions, games, music, markets and
gastronomic points that wind along the streets of the whole town.
Roasted chestnuts and typical dishes made with chestnut flour spread their scent in the caruggi of the village, which on this day showcases all the cultural aspects of a territory that has always been linked to what was considered the Bread Tree for having fed entire generations in the past.
